Pitching Rules

USSSA Rule 6 discusses Pitching. ASA Arc we use though is 6 to 12 feet but, since USSSA is 3 to 10 feet you probably will get calls on both depending on the plate umpires. Why do we use ASA it's due to the NAGAAA tournaments mostly that the open division goes to and the World Series.

USSSA distance is 50 feet from the back of home plate to the rubber mound which is 24" by 6" standard field dimensions.

Fields 1 and 5 have 3 pitching rubbers. The second one is the correct one. It should be 50 feet.

Field 2 has 2 pitching rubbers. The first one is the correct one. It should be 50 feet.

Now, let me discuss this 6 foot box that some umpires have been advising on. There is an unwritten rule that was put into place in mills evenings program due to safety reasons mostly for the upper level men but, all can use that allows you to pitch back 6 feet from the 50 feet rubber within a box the length of the 24 inch rubber.

I don't think that most pitchers would use this 6 feet back but, we are going to do this:

The Platinum and Gold Divisions can use the 6 feet box.
The Silver and Bronze Divisions will pitch from the 50 feet rubber unless both teams agree otherwise.

The six foot rule is not a USSSA nor a ASA Rule and is currently not used in the world series.

If in doubt ask the umpire to measure the distance.
